This historic site includes a museum; a memorial to Richard Caswell, first governor of the state of North Carolina; and the CSS Neuse, one of two remaining Confederate ironclads. The museum presents exhibits and a slide show relating the story of the Neuse. Picnic facilities are available. Open Monday-Saturday 9am-5pm, Sunday 1-5pm, April-October; Tuesday-Saturday 10am-4pm, Sunday 1-4pm, the rest of the year. Closed major holidays and Martin Luther King Jr's birthday. Free to the public.
