Johnston Memorial Hospital (JMH) is one of only two hospitals of comparable size in Virginia to receive an "A" rating from Moody Investors Service, a leading global credit rating, research and risk analysis firm. Only 13 hospitals nationwide are in that category.
Both a primary care provider and regional referral center, JMH serves not only Washington County in Virginia but surrounding counties in Southwest Virginia and East Tennessee. More than 120 active, courtesy and consulting physicians comprise the JMH medical team, offering a variety of specialty and sub-specialty services.
The hospital provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services, including a critical care unit, obstetrical services, 24-hour emergency care, physical therapy, outpatient surgery, radiology, cardiology, endoscopy, and the only Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in Southwest Virginia west of Roanoke.
A not-for-profit Virginia hospital, JMH is governed by a 12-member board of trustees and is licensed to operate 135 acute care beds. The hospital employs more than 700 individuals, at the hospital as well as its off-site laboratories, diagnostic sleep lab and home health agency.
