Hebron is located in southwestern North Dakota in western Morton County about 60 miles west of Bismarck. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 807, a decrease of 81 since 1990.

The town began taking shape in the middle 1880s. As with most of North Dakota, immigrants were largely from Europe but the German influence here was particularly strong. Family names included Jung, Treiber, Hoerauf, Schill and Leutz.

The nearest recreation centers around Lake Tschida about 20 miles to the south.
