Mandan

Mandan is located in south central North Dakota in Morton County (of which it is the county seat) across the Missouri River from Bismarck along I-94.

The city is named for the Mandan Indian tribe who were known as the friendliest group along the Missouri. A fort, named in honor of the tribe and located about 40 miles north of the city, was erected to house Lewis & Clark through the winter of 1804-05.

Outdoor recreation in the vicinity includes Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park just south of town and just south of town and [crossrsp] about 30 miles. In addition, Prairie West Colf Course, a regulation 18-hole hole facility, and Mandan Municipal Golf Course, an executive-style 9-hole course of 2,800 yards are open to the public. CODE left
