Stutsman county is located in central North Dakota with Jamestown serving as the county seat. The county population on July 1, 1999, was 21,090, a decrease of 1,151 over the 1990 census.
This sizeable county's most notable feature is Jim Lake on the James River. Other bodies of water include Pipestem Lake, Chase Lake in the western section of the county and Arrow Wood Lake which is the anchor for Arrowwood National Wildlife Refuge.
History aficionados will want to take in the Ft. Seward Historic Site just west of Jamestown and north of I-94.
