Lewellen

Lewellen is located in Garden County 12 miles southeast of Oshkosh between Oshkosh and Ogallala along Hwy 26 on the banks of the North Platte River near the Lake McConaughy State Recreation Area.

Located in the valley of the North Platte River, once used by French traders in their buffalo skin boats, and closely followed by Mormon hand carts, Oregon Trail wagon trains, and California prospectors.

Outdoor activities in the Lewellen area include biking (throughout multible trails), fishing (walleye, wiper, striper, white bass, northern pike, catfish and small-mouth bass), boating, bird watching, sailing and hunting.

The Garden County Museum is filled with many historical artifacts relating to Lewellen and the surrounding area.
