Wymore is located in Gage County, situated between Beatrice and the Kansas boarder along US Hwy 77 and the Big Blue River.
The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 1,537, a decrease of 74 since 1990.
Wymore began its history in 1881, the date when the plat was recorded at the Gage County Courthouse. It was the production of the Burlington and Missouri Railroad for the purpose of building a cross-country line between Kansas City, Missouri and Denver, Colorado.
The poultry industry was introduced in Wymore in the late 1920s, and Wymore soon became the "egg capital of the world." Eggs were marketed from local produce houses throughout the United States and internationally during World War II. As the poultry industry moved its operations closer to population centers, Wymore saw its population decline. Wymore now provides residential support to neighboring communities and development of small manufacturing businesses.
