Claremont

Claremont is located in Sullivan County about seven miles west of Newport on the banks of the Sugar River. The Sugar River flows into the Connecticut River a few miles farther west.

The City lies next to Interstate 91, the major north-south route between Eastern Canada and the northeastern US. The area offers many recreational opportunities, including skiing, golf, boating, hiking, car racing at Claremont and even hang gliding. Cultural activities include a beautifully restored Historic Opera House, which features world-class entertainment year round; and Dartmouth College and its educational and cultural activities are only a short ride away. Or visit one of America's only three articulated Streamliners ever built, the Flying Yankee.
