Atlantic City is located in Atlantic County, east of Vineland between Ocean City and Absecon along Highway 9 on the Atlantic Ocean. It is situated between Great Egg Harbor Inlet and Absecon Inlet.

Atlantic City is one of the largest gambling and convention seaside resorts in the world. It is built on Absecon Beach, an island about 10 miles long and three quarters of a mile wide. The city is famous for its boardwalk, stretching seven miles along the Atlantic. The first boardwalk was completed in 1870. Atlantic City is part of the Atlantic-Cape May, New Jersey metro area.

Trivia: Local street names have become famous by their presence on the Monopoly game board. Local foods include saltwater taffy. Locals are known as Atlantic Cityites. This was the filming location for the 2001 movie, "Ocean's Eleven".
