The Somers Mansion was built around 1725 by Richard Somers, the son of an early area settler. The three-story brick dwelling, the oldest house in Atlantic County, contains 18th-century furnishings. An interesting architectural detail is the interior woodwork decorated with heart-shaped perforations. A textile collection includes locally fashioned quilts, coverlets and samplers. Call for hours. Admission is free; located next to the traffic circle.
