Hagerman is in Chaves County, and in the Southeast New Mexico region. Hagerman is located on Highway 249, and south of Roswell.
In 1894, hagerman was initially, known as Felix for the River Felix, which enters the Pecos River just north of this quiet community. The economic base is farming and cotton is the primary crop. The town was named for J. J. Hagerman, president of the Pecos Valley and Northeastern Railroad.
