Hurley is in Grant County, and in the Southwest New Mexico region. You can find Hurley by traveling south from Silver City on US Hwy 180.
Hurley was founded as Hurley Siding a railroad siding named for a manager of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railroad. Starting in 1910, Hurley began as a company village of the Chino Copper Company, which still has its general offices here. It is now incorporated, but mining is still important to its economy. Although, its economic base is diversifying with its close proximity to Silver City and that Citys growth.
