Mogollon is in Catron County, and in the Southwest New Mexico region. To locate Mogollon, head north of Silver City between Reserve and Silver City along Highway 159 near Snow Lake and the Arizona state line.

Situated within the Gila National Forest.

During the 1890s in the bottom of Silver Creek Canyon, the mining camp at Mogollon was started. Several mines in the area were pioneered, which was the beginning of the one mine named Little Fanny, gaining the reputation that is the history of the town itself. The presence of miner's consumption was so severe it was not uncommon for miners working the Little Fanny to last only three years or less.
