One of the engineering marvels of the world, the Brooklyn Bridge spans the East River and connects the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Manhattan. When completed for $15 million in 1883, it was the largest suspension bridge in the world at the time. Its main span is 1595 feet and the cables from which it is suspended are fastened to 275-foot towers at each end.
