Commack is located in Suffolk County east of New York on Long Island along Highway 25 near the Northern State Parkway and is in the Southern Region of the state. Commack is part of the Nassau-Suffolk, New York metro area. Its name derives from Algonquian for "pleasant land" or "beautiful place". Well-known residents have included: Rosie O'Donnell, comedian, actress, talk show host and Bob Costas, sportscaster.
