Louis Mendez, a versatile artist in many media, explores human and animal forms with equal intensity in large scale sculpture, graphic images, mask designs, and traditional ceramics. The designer series includes earthenware clay with incised geometric and curvilinear patterns, while the archaic series has wall-hung earthenware masks with incised drawing and stamped patterns, painted with matte, and crystal glazes.
