Polish soprano Marcella Sembrich (1858-1935), was active with New York's Metropolitan Opera and gave several concert tours during an active singing career. After 1917, she retired from performing and dedicated herself to teaching, for which she won wide acclaim. She spent her summers in the Adirondack mountains, where this museum constructed in her honor is located. The museum, in continuous operation for over 60 years, is open seasonally, and is filled with artifacts whose dates span her c areer as both musician and pedagogue.
