Penn Yan

Penn Yan is located in Yates County, (of which it is the county seat), between Watkins Glen and Geneva on the western side of Seneca Lake, (one of the Finger Lakes), on Highway 14A at the northern most tip of Keuka Lake. It is in the Western Region of the state.

It name is a compromise between Pennsylvanians and New Englanders and was once the winter home of the "Great James M. Cole Circus". Many Amish and Mennonite families have moved to the region in recent decades
