Blue Rock State Forest is located in east central Ohio in Muskingum County about 50 miles east of Columbus and about 10 miles southeast of Zanesville adjacent to Blue Rock State Park just east of SR 60.

This 4,600-acre refuge was originally obtained by the Federal government in the 1930s and was transformed from marginal cropland into one of the state's most scenic and productive forests under the guidance of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

Activities promoted within the forest include hunting, fishing, gathering of berries, nuts and mushrooms and horseback riding.
