Bowling Green State was founded in 1910 as a public liberal arts institution. The 1230-acre campus provide the location for instruction to more than 13,000 full-time undergraduates, most of whom come from Ohio.
Fraternities and sororities are active. The university participates in a number of intercollegiate sports for both men and women, as well as providing intramural sports. There is a great variety in the majors chosen by undergraduates. Among the more popular are nursing and elementary education.
