Orwell is located in northeastern Ohio in southwestern Ashtabula County 40 miles east of Cleveland, 30 miles north-northwest of Youngstown and 25 miles inland from Lake Erie.
One local attraction is "Old Brick", a 28-room museum was once the stagecoach stop at the halfway point between Lake Erie and Warren. It also served as the town's first post office and a community center for local residents. On display are original furnishings and other artifacts from 1828 through the 1950s.
The town is about 10 miles northwest of 7,850-acre Mosquito Creek Lake (the state's 2nd largest behind Grand Lake St. Marys) and Mosquito Lake State Park. In adition, Pymatuning Lake and Pymatuning State Park are about 20 miles to the east.
