Sylvania is located in northwest Ohio in Lucas County just west of Toledo.
The town is home to the Sisters of St. Francis of Sylvania, a convent dedicated to "live the Gospel in joyful servanthood among all people." The nunnery was founded here in 1916 by a group of Franciscan Sisters from Rochester. Today, their diverse ministries are a direct response to the needs of the common people: education on all levels, social work, health care, religious education, counseling, special education, communications, and parish and retreat work.
Sylvania Historic Village highlights the month of May with "Homespun Crafts Day" and "Local History Week". In addition, the annual "Arts & Crafts Festival" with over 400 exhibitors from around the country is held the Sunday after Labor Day.
