Cherokee State Park is located in northeastern Oklahoma in Mayes County between Spavinaw State Park and Disney/Little Blue State Park east of the Grand (Neosho) River north of Spavinaw Lake along SR 82.
The 43-acre park features 46,300-acre Grand Lake O' the Cherokees, 124 campsites, swimming beach, boating, water skiing, scuba diving, fishing, and a playground.
The park is made up of three different areas: the "riverside area" located below Pensacola Dam and known for its great fishing; the "lakeside area" with its swimming beach, picnic sites including 1 group shelter, 22 campsites, a comfort station with showers, a playground, a 9-hole golf course and a lighted boat ramp and the "Cherokee area" which features a small swimming beach, picnic sites (1 group shelter), 24 campsites, and a comfort station with showers. All water sports are allowed on Grand Lake.
