Smithville is located in southeastern Oklahoma in northern McCurtain County on U.S. Highway 259 between the two sections of the Ouachita National Forest. Nearby bodies of water include Broken Bow Lake, about 10 miles south and Pine Creek Lake, about 40 miles to the southwest.
