Kingston

The city was founded in 1673 as a fur-trading post and strategic military stronghold. Many ancient fortifications and early Canadian landmarks are evident around town. Kingston's location on Lake Ontario at the junction of the Cataraqui and St. Lawrence River provides access to the Thousand Islands. The Loyalist Parkway is a scenic drive from Kingston to Trenton. Travelers have ample opportunity to stop along the way for swimming, fishing, boating, and picnicking. Ferries link Kingston with Wolfe Island and Cape Vincent, New York.
