A mostly wilderness park accessible only by canoe or trail. Campgrounds, beaches, picnic areas, and hiking trails are near the Visitor Centre at Hattie Cove. All visitors to the back country and winter campers must register, attend orientation, and pay fees before departing. Cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and back-country camping are permitted in the winter. The Pukaskwa and White rivers offer challenging whitewater rapids in the spring. Boats can be launched on the Pic River near the park entrance. The park is located on the north shore of Lake Superior northeast of Thunder Bay. The entrance is at Hattie Cove, and can be reached by Highway 627, which extends from Highway 17 south of Marathon.
