From Hwy 101 on the south end of Coos Bay take the Allegany turnoff east. Follow this road (6th Street) just over one mile to the top of the hill and turn left onto "D" Street. Follow "D" Street for two blocks and turn right on 4th Avenue. Follow 4th Avenue one block and take the first right onto a gravel road to a small parking area. Watch for binocular signs along the way. Walk across the south end of a football field to the beginning of the trail. The trail does a one mile loop and comes back to the north end of the football field. The Millicoma Marsh Trail has enhanced pedestrian access to the freshwater wetlands, created new access to the tidal marsh, and provides a series of interpretive displays along the marsh. All portions of the Trail are accessible to the physically challenged. Birding is popular at this well-known 'hotspot' during fall and winter.
