Coquille is the county seat of Coos County
and a crossroads for travelers driving from Interstate 5
to the coast along Hwy 42. The town is also situated between Coos Bay
and Myrtle Point
, nestled along the banks of the Coquille River
Coquille is also positioned on Hwy 42, 67 miles east of Roseburg.
Incorporated in 1885, Coquille (Ko-keel) has remained the county seat since 1896. The town offers a moderate climate, easy accessibility to the Coast (half an hour away), abundant fishing in the Coquille River, and an excellent hospital and emergency care facility. The Sawdust Theater is also a popular destination for many.
