Dale

Dale is located southwest of La Grande, between Ukiah and Long Creek on Hwy 395, in northern Grant County on the border with Umatilla County, near the Umatilla National Forest and within the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest. This community is also situated along the banks of the Day River.

There is also a Dale, Indiana.

Dale was first called Dorman, for the first post office located there in 1887. James W. Dorman was the first postmaster. The name change occurred in 1891.
