Fremont National Recreation Trail

Search Visit Oregon

The Fremont National Recreation Trail, also known as the Southern Oregon Intertie Trail, is still under construction. Once completed, the 175 mile trail will traverse the entire length of the Fremont National Forest and will eventually connect the Pacific Crest Trail to the Desert Scenic Trail. The Fremont National Forest has been working on this trail since 1987 and is nearing completion.

The trail will offer panoramic vistas, and primitive camping is available. Fishing opportunities are available along several miles of trail. There will be a number of road access points for shuttle vehicle parking for those who do not wish to traverse the entire distance.
