Named for the gold that was found near here in the mid-1800s, Gold Beach sits where the Rogue River meets the sea. Year-round fishing, jet boat trips, and other outdoor activities for the entire family make this a vacation paradise. It is also the county seat and site of the fairgrounds, where events are held year-round. The Rogue River Museum is at the jet boat dock near the southern end of the bridge. Upriver about 10 miles are the Schrader Old Growth Trail and Myrtle Tree Trail, home of Oregon's largest myrtlewood tree.
