Oregon's Long Tom River and its tributaries flow from the crest of the Coast Range Mountains through Fern Ridge Lake, then northward to join the Willamette River just beyond the town of Monroe. Other tributaries join the Long Tom from the surrounding valley, including the Amazon which flows through Eugene.

The Long Tom River and the surrounding watershed provide a multitude of benefits including: productive forest and farm lands, recreational opportunities, and habitat for cutthroat trout, blue heron, western pond turtle, and many sensitive plants.
