Short Bridge

Across the South Santiam River

Search Visit Oregon
One of the few remaining bridges to have a wooden shingle roof, Short Bridge is primarily used to reach nearby Soda Springs. The bridge is presently part of Cascadia State Park.

The span is the most eastern covered bridge in Linn County. Like most covered spans the Short Bridge has received maintenance on a regular basis. The structure has received new roofing, approaches, railing, and paint in the past few years. During the summer of 1988, the bridge was closed for several days for repair of beams and flooring. It is not scheduled for replacement, and will continue to serve the logging interests in the area.

When the wooden-house structure was built, the bridge was known more commonly as the Whiskey Butte Bridge, but was renamed for a long-time area resident, Gordon Short.
