Bedford is located in Bedford County, of which it is the county seat, southwest of Johnstown between Altoona and the Maryland state line along Interstate 70. Shawnee Lake and Shawnee State Park are situated just west of Bedford. Each October, enjoy Bedford's Fall Foliage Festival, featuring over 400 craft booths, free entertainment, vintage cars, a quilt show, and spectacular food.
