Bradford

Bradford is located in McKean County just south of the New York state line along US Highway 219 near the Allegheny Reservoir and the Allegheny National Forest.

The town flourished after the Bradford Oil Boom of the 1880s, and the archives and artifacts of the past can be viewed at the site of the first producing well in the area - The Olmstead Well on the Crook Farm. The farm includes the original house, an authentic one-room schoolhouse, and an annual arts & crafts fair.

Visitors can also view the Kinzua Bridge, a railroad bridge listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The bridge is the second highest railroad viaducts in the U.S., and the fourth highest in the world.

Allegheny National Forest, the only National Forest in the state, surrounds Bradford, and offers a variety of recreation for hunters, fishermen, wildlife watchers, and vacationers.
