Cowans Gap State Park

Surrounded by Buchanan State Forest, Cowans Gap is a scenic place for a quiet getaway. Many park facilities, including the lake, picnic shelters, cabins and roads were constructed by the Civilian Conservation Corps in the 1930s.

Swimming, boating, fishing and camping are available activities. Cowans Gap has 233 campsites in two areas. The camping area has a sanitary dump station, modern comfort stations with flush toilets and hot showers. The campsites will accommodate campers from the smallest tent to 30-foot motor homes.

The park is located between Chambersburg and McConnellsburg.
