Though agriculture was an important aspect of the economy in previous times, it is now a very small portion. Several large manufacturing and packaging plants are in the area. The H.B. Robinson Power Plant generates electricity with both nuclear and coal power. Interactive exhibits outlining the generation of electricity and nuclear power are featured in the Robinson Visitor Center telling the story of nuclear power at the Southeast's first commercial nuclear power plant.

The Robinson Visitors Center is open Monday through Friday. The center is free to the public.
