On the south side of main street in Dell Rapids stands a pink quartzite building that has been part of the business community since 1902. This building is the home of the Dell Rapids Museum which reflects the growth and history of this community.

Renovation for the museum was well under way in 1995, with the majority of the restoration and renovation completed in 1999. A milestone event occurred in January of 1999 with the "burning of the mortgage", making the Dell Rapids Society for Historical Preservation the official owner of the museum.
