In Glacial Lakes & Prairies Region, Flandreau is located in Moody County (of which it is the county seat). One of the oldest cities in the state, it lies on Hwy 32 just east of I-29 in the Flandreau Santee Indian Reservation near the Big Sioux River. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,290, a decrease of 21 since 1990.
