Huron is located in Beadle County (of which it is the county seat) east of Pierre on US 14 and Hwy 37 on the banks of the James River near Lake Cavour and Lake Byron, in Glacial Lakes & Prairies Region. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 11,778, a decrease of 670 since 1990.

Sully County Fair Onida SD August9-12 kicking off the fair with a parade through Onida on Thursday, at 6:27 p.m. The parade will end up at the fairgrounds where we will be having cake, refreshments and music.
