Redfield is located in Spink County (of which it is the county seat), at the junction of US 281 and US 212. It lies in the Glacial Lakes & Prairies Region, on the banks of the James River near Cottonwood Lake. Also nearby is the Abbie Gardner Monument. The population estimate for July 1, 1998 was 2,664, a decrease of 106 since 1990.
