The Appalachian Center for Crafts' facilities and equipment in clay, metals, fibers, wood, and glass are among the best equipped in the nation. Each offers abundant work and storage space and contains sufficient modern equipment and tools to allow exploration in a wide range of techniques and designs. It is here that artists can study contemporary and traditional Appalachian crafts. The campus encompasses 562 acres of land owned by the Army Corps of Engineers. In addition to 50,000 square feet of studio space and 4,000 square feet devoted to the retail sales space and two exhibition galleries, the Center houses administrative offices, a cafeteria, an audiovisual lecture room, a library, a conference room, a television lounge, a supplies store, a laundry room, housing units and a volleyball court.
