A local ruin gave the accommodating hill resort of Hisaronu its name, which translates to "Front of the Castle." In recent years the resort has become a popular visitor destination whose gift shops, bars and restaurants are geared to their needs. There also are more than 20 hotels in Hisaronu.
The locale, nestled in its lovely, rugged surroundings, is perfect for sipping drinks by a swimming pool or lolling on the beach, but it also is a eye-catching lure for walkers. Shady forest trails lead to quiet inlets and bays. The nearby deserted village of Kayakoy is reachable on foot.
Hisaronu's distinct central location allows visitors to enjoy a wide variety of activites, such as canoeing on the Xanthos river to Patara, paragliding from Babadag Mountain onto the beach at the resort of Oludeniz, or viewing the ancient ruins of Ephesus.
