Big Bend Ranch State Park

Search Presidio Texas

Almost 280,000 acres of Chihuahuan Desert wilderness is included in the park, which extends along the Rio Grande from southeast of Presidio to near Lajitas. It was purchased from private owners in 1988 and embraces some of the most remote and rugged terrain in the Southwest, including two mountain ranges.

The park maintains a small Texas longhorn herd, a remnant of the property's ranching heritage.

Related Texas State Parks facilities include Barton Warnock Environmental Educ. Ctr and Fort Leaton State Historical Park.
