Consisting of more than 1400 acres, some on the Frio River, in norther Uvalde County, the park is one of the true beauty spots of Texas. The park was acquired in 1934-36 and named for John Nance Garner, who was Vice-President of the United States at the time. The Civilian Conservation Corps made the original improvements. Facilities include campsites, picnic sites, and trails.
