Battle of Bunker Hill

Fought between British soldiers under General William Howe and colonists from around Boston on June 17, 1775. The colonists fortified positions across the Charles River from Boston. The British attacked and were repulsed, but on the third attempt the colonists had run out of ammunition and retreated. British losses were about 1000. American casualties totaled around 400 killed and wounded.
