Escalante State Park is one mile west of
Escalante on Hwy 12. The 1,350-acre park is highlighted by mineralized wood in a variety of colors, as well as fossilized logs and dinosaur bones. Wide Hollow Reservoir is located at the park boundary, offering fishing and water recreation. Park amenities include a visitor center, campground, modern bathrooms with showers, disposal station, and interpretive trail. Picnicking facilities, including a group-use pavilion, are available. The campground and administration buildings are all close to the edge of Wide Hollow Reservoir, built in 1954 this provides a rare wetland bird habitat in south Utah. Fishing, boating and swimming are permitted. The park is open year-round.
