Ashland is located in Hanover County 11 miles north of Richmond along Highway 1 off I95 in the Central Region of the state. Home of Randolph-Macon College. Ashland is part of the Richmond-Petersburg, Virginia metro area. Patrick Henry delivered his famous "Give me liberty or give me death" speech here in the county courthouse.
