Search Charlottesville Virginia

Established in 1784 by Scotsman William Michie, the tavern accommodated travelers with food, drink and lodging. In 1927 the inn was moved 17 miles to its present location as an example of the 1920s Preservation Movement. Featured on the tour are the ladies' and gentlemen's parlors, private quarters and a keeping room, all of which contain antiques and artifacts. Included on the tour are the tavern's outbuildings including the Virginia Wine Museum, housed in the tavern's cellar, and the 1797 Meadow Run Grist Mill. Living-history programs, April-October, invite participation. Call for hours of operation.
