Natural Bridge Caverns

In 1750, young George Washington surveyed the Natural Bridge site for Lord Fairfax. Landmarks remain of the work and on the wall of the bridge where he carved his initials. It is located in the Natural Bridge Resort Complex. 45-minute guided tours of the caves are offered.

Natural Bridge Caverns is the deepest commercial cave on the east coast. Tours of the three-level cave include many steps, but the rewards are worth the effort.
